Theatrical and Conference Venues The Old Council Chambers seats 100 (fixed) An intimate studio theatre space with in-house lighting and PA system. Suitable for plays, spoken word and acoustic performances. The New Ballroom seats 140 - 200 depending on configuration. A multipurpose space, the New Ballroom is suitable for plays, musical performances and functions. The standard set up includes raked seating for 140, flat floor stage area (approx 12m x 8m), in-house lighting and PA. The New Council Chambers seats 375 (fixed). Built specifically for Council meetings, the New Council Chambers is suitable for all types of meetings, conferences, spoken word and acoustic performances. Meeting Rooms We have several Meeting Rooms available for hire in a range of sizes. All have carpeted floors, windows, tables and chairs. Whiteboards and overhead projectors can be supplied if required. Food and Drink Trades Hall is home to the Trades Hall Bar, run by independent operators, Union Promotions and the New International Bookshop and Café. Wheelchair Access Wheelchair access is available through the rear of the Trades Hall Building via a lift. Please inform us before you arrive if you require lift access outside of office hours.
